Bank One Ballpark was built as the home of the Major League Baseball’s Arizona Diamondbacks franchise. The structure is a large 1.3 million square foot build, with a roof that opens and closes using the help of 200-horsepower motors that engage more than four miles of cable string through a pulley system.
The roof alone required 22,000 tons of steel for completion. In order to complete the project on schedule, Schuff Steel implemented an innovative and unique plan for erecting the two giant trusses allowing our team to raise the 1,400 ton superstructure in just 36 hours. Traditional methods comparatively would have taken several weeks to complete.
