Project Description

State Farm Stadium

The University of Phoenix Stadium, home of the Arizona Cardinals is considered an architectural icon for the region. It showcases innovative features including a retractable roof and rollout natural grass field.

The fully retractable natural grass playing surface positioned on top of an Air Field Systems drainage system is the first of its kind to be built in the United States.

With an opening on one side of the stadium, the playing field can be moved to the exterior of the building allowing the entire natural turf playing surface to be exposed to daylight. It also helps to facilitate the use of the 63,400 seat stadium for other purposes such as concerts, without damaging the turf.

Innovative features combined, the stadium was named one of the 10 “most impressive” sports facilities in the world by Business Week.
